Objective

To serve the worshiping community of St. Joseph's Parish by reading the scriptures at Mass.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete CORI request form at start of ministry and then annually.

• Participate in VIRTUS (Protecting God's Children) training program.

• Recognize the importance of bringing the Word of God to the people.

• Prepare in advance by reading the Scriptures of the day.

• Participate in training in order to present the reading in a spiritual manner.

• Participate willingly in scheduled ministry meetings and opportunities for spiritual enrichment.

• Obtain a monthly schedule and accept responsibility for securing a replacement in the event of a schedule conflict.

• Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of Mass to review the Lectionary and place it on the lectern.

• Wear appropriate attire in keeping with the dignity of the service offered to the Parish community.

Qualifications

• A practicing Catholic, who is committed to growth in holiness.

• Able to speak clearly and distinctly.

• Possess a sense of liturgical prayer.

• At least sixteen years old and a fully initiated Catholic, in unity with the Church's teaching, and has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.

Length of Commitment

The term is for three years.  Additional appointments, as needed, would be on a three-year basis.
